Anthropic has announced a substantial expansion of its programs for the scientific research community, built around three pillars. First, a new Claude team plan for scientists offering 10,000 seats globally — standard seats are free, premium seats with 5x usage limits cost $15/month — open to principal investigators and their labs at academic and nonprofit institutions. Second, the AI for Science credit program is expanding beyond biological sciences to cover researchers across all disciplines, including compute-heavy work like number theory (citing recent Riemann zeta function progress) and protein design. Approved labs can access up to $50,000 in credits per project; any researcher is eligible to apply. Third, Anthropic is launching a US government-partnered program to give life sciences professionals access to Mythos-class models for research and development — with the first participants now enrolled. Claude Fable models continue to block professional biology and drug development queries due to dual-use risks, a policy that remains while the structured access program scales. The announcement builds on the June launch of Claude Science, which integrates common research tools, produces auditable research artifacts, and provides flexible compute access. Anthropic says the programs aim to 'radically accelerate scientific discovery.'
