Anthropic launched Claude Tag, a Slack-native AI teammate that joins channels, builds context over time, and proactively surfaces relevant information — with 65% of Anthropic's product team's code now generated by their internal deployment.
Details
Claude Tag lets teams add @Claude as a full member of Slack channels, where it can be assigned tasks, builds context from channel history, and operates asynchronously. Unlike single-session AI chat, one Claude instance serves an entire Slack channel — allowing teammates to pick up conversations mid-thread and share the same persistent context. Three key capabilities distinguish it from standard Claude chat: memory (Claude builds tacit knowledge from channels and connected data sources over time), initiative (in 'ambient' mode, Claude proactively flags relevant information and follows up on stalled threads without being asked), and asynchronous execution (tasks can be delegated and checked on later). Anthropic reports that 65% of its product team's code is now generated by their internal Claude Tag deployment. Claude Tag is available in beta for Claude Enterprise and Team customers. Anthropic describes it as an evolution of Claude Code — making agentic AI more collaborative and persistent within team workflows. The company plans to expand beyond Slack. Users can grant Claude access to specific channels and connect it to tools, data sources, and codebases. The product positions Anthropic directly in enterprise collaboration, competing with Microsoft Copilot's Teams integration and similar agentic workflow products from Google and others.
