OpenAI rolls out GPT-6 Astra to top-tier ChatGPT plans at half the rate of GPT-5.6 Sol

GPT-6 Astra is now accessible to ChatGPT's top-tier subscribers — Pro, Enterprise, and Business Premium — through ChatGPT Work and Codex. The model also reached OpenAI's API, Microsoft Azure, and AWS Bedrock simultaneously. Plus and Business Standard users will gain access in the coming days. The rollout includes two variants: standard GPT-6 Astra for all qualifying subscribers, and GPT-6 Astra Pro for $100+ Pro, Business, and Enterprise tiers. Astra Pro carries explicit weekly quotas: the $200 Pro plan gets 200 messages per week, the $100 Pro plan gets 50, Business Premium gets 50, and Business Standard is capped at 15 per month. On some plans these quotas are shared with GPT-5.6 Sol Pro. Standard Astra is noticeably more constrained than Sol — message windows run at roughly half the rate. A Plus user gets 5–45 messages per five-hour window on Astra versus 10–100 on Sol; on the Pro 20x plan that widens to 100–900 versus 200–2,000. OpenAI attributes the variability to context length, reasoning depth, tool use, and caching. Free and Go tier users remain locked out of frontier models entirely — neither GPT-5.6 Sol nor GPT-6 Astra is included in those plans.
