Google DeepMind is opening an 'AI for the Planet' accelerator specifically for the Asia-Pacific region, recognizing APAC's dual role as a major economic growth engine and one of the world's most climate-vulnerable zones. The program targets startups, research teams, and nonprofits rather than large enterprises.\n\nSelected participants will receive three months of expert mentorship, tailored technical support, and direct integration of frontier AI and science AI models from Google AI experts. The program kicks off with an in-person bootcamp in Singapore. No cohort size, application deadline, or funding amounts are provided in the announcement.\n\nThe 'AI for the Planet' framing connects to DeepMind's prior science AI portfolio: GraphCast for weather forecasting, GNoME for materials discovery, and energy optimization research. The APAC focus acknowledges that many of the world's highest climate-risk populations are in this region, and that AI-for-climate innovation is significantly underfunded there relative to commercial AI development. Applications are open now.
